CHO Community Guidelines

A few ground rules to help keep CHO a safe, welcoming place to meet new people.

🛡️ Meet Safely

CHO is about meeting new people, but it's important to take basic precautions when meeting someone for the first time.

• Create and attend events in public, populated places such as parks, cafés, libraries, shopping areas, or other community spaces. • Avoid meeting strangers alone in private or isolated locations, including someone's home. • Don't get into a stranger's car unless you know and trust them. • Let someone you trust know where you're going and who you're meeting. • Avoid sharing your home address, financial information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information with people you've just met. • If an event makes you feel unsafe, leave. You never have to stay.

CHO can provide features to help you choose who can attend your events, but you are ultimately responsible for deciding who you meet and what you're comfortable with.

❤️ Stay Comfortable

Meeting new people can be exciting, but you should never feel pressured to participate. You can leave an event at any time, decline an invitation, or stop talking to someone if you're uncomfortable. Your safety comes before the event. If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.

🤝 This Isn't a Dating App

CHO is designed for making friends and meeting people, not dating. Please respect people's boundaries and don't use events as an excuse to pressure someone into romantic or sexual interactions. If someone isn't interested, respect their answer and move on.

🌎 Be Respectful

Treat other members the way you'd want to be treated. We don't tolerate:

• Harassment or bullying • Hate speech • Discrimination • Threats or intimidation • Unwanted sexual behaviour • Deliberately making someone feel unsafe or unwelcome

People from different backgrounds and with different interests are welcome on CHO.

👤 Be Genuine

Use a genuine identity and an appropriate profile. Your profile photo doesn't have to be a photo of yourself — it can represent a hobby, interest, or something else that represents you. However:

• Don't impersonate another person. • Don't create fake accounts to deceive others. • Don't deliberately mislead people about who you are. • Only create events that you genuinely intend to host.

📅 Create Real Events

Events should be genuine opportunities for people to get together. Don't create:

• Fake or misleading events • Events designed to scam or deceive people • Dangerous or illegal activities • Events intended to harass or target another person

If your event involves an activity with obvious risks, make those risks clear to people before they join.

🚫 No Unwanted Promotion

CHO isn't a place for unsolicited advertising or spam. You're welcome to organise a social gathering at a café, restaurant, shop, or other business. However, don't use events primarily to advertise a business, product, service, or website. For example: ❌ "Come to this event and check out my store!" A genuine social gathering at that store would be fine.

🚩 Report Problems

If someone makes you uncomfortable or breaks these guidelines, you don't have to deal with it yourself. You can:

• Report them • Block them • Leave the event • Tell the event organiser • Contact emergency services if you're in immediate danger

If possible, report serious problems as soon as they happen, rather than waiting until after the event. Reports help us keep CHO safe for everyone.

💙 Trust your gut

No set of guidelines can eliminate every risk when meeting people online. Take things at your own pace, trust your instincts, and remember: You don't owe anyone your time, personal information, or presence.

Have fun, meet new people, and look out for each other.
